This is not really a proper album, but a compilation of two EPs into a single package. Carathis are essentially a one-man project with an extra drummer, and they have put out several EPs over the past couple of years (since they only formed in 2021). This has a pleasant enough sound, but let's be real, "pleasant" is not normally a word I associate with Black Metal of any kind. Between the catchy riffs and the keyboards, this is highly melodic, hooky stuff that is easy to listen to, but doesn't have any substance to it. The songwriting is flat, and the tracks pretty much just repeat themselves until they are long enough for a song. Inconsequential. |
