Arched Fire were among the many thrash acts from Finland who called it quits before releasing anything, thanks to the massive death metal wave going on at the time, and like many of those bands, they returned a couple of years back with the positively received debut Remote Control. Thankfully, instead of yet another 29-year wait, they've gone ahead and released a two-song single as a teaser for an upcoming followup in the spring, and if both songs are anything to go off of, it's going to be good.

The first track is the title track, containing vocals from none other than Tim "Ripper" Owens. Now, Tim has been active in the scene for a long time among various projects, so there's no surprise in his performance, but it is a damn killer one that gives a lot of power and energy to this catchy, mid-paced, gimmick-free slag of steel ownage. The second track, "Mr. Death," is closer to Megadeth and Annihilator when they leaned more on rock, with guitar work that's reminiscent of what Waters did when he made music worth a damn and vocalist Kristian Herkman sounding a good bit like Dave Mustaine, and it's a solid tune that'd be right at home on an album from either act.

Since this is just a two-song teaser, I don't really have much more to add other than saying Pestilence does a good job making me excited for the upcoming album, and odds are it will get you excited too.
