Endless Horizon is the third full-length album from French power metal band Galderia and the first one I've heard. This band plays decidedly happy power metal, like the kind that flourished in the early aughts, so prepare yourself for insanely catchy choruses, neoclassical guitar solos and plenty of saccharine-sweet keyboard melodies. They've really nailed the sound are very faithful to the conventions of power metal, with perhaps a bit of prog in the keyboard solo on "Come with Me Now" and on "Elation" where they incorporate a bit of electronic/dance influences but nothing on the level of Beast in Black. Most of Endless Horizon is right down the same path blazed by Freedom Call, Heavenly, Sonata Arctica, etc. and songs like "Answer the Call," "Gonna Change it All" and "Heart of Mankind" are so well done, you won't care that they sound like a lot of other power metal songs you've heard over the years. So, there you have it, Endless Horizon is completely unoriginal, but the quality is high, so if you're a fan of power metal that won't matter one bit. Get the air guitar and air keytar warmed up. |
