There are like twelve bands called Apparition, but this one is from Los Angeles. They just released their debut album last year, and this is actually a rerelease of their second EP, Granular Transformation, originally put out by Profound Lore Records in 2020. This is an expansion on the original demo, which was two tracks, adding in the three tracks from their first EP, Subarachnoid Space. All that means I just spent almost as much time explaining where this came from as it will take you to listen to it, since it's not a long release, even if it is technically two of them.

A long way to go to describe Death Metal that is not much different from the standard. I liked their full-length album, Feel, and I can see why this got them attention, as it is Death Metal that is very old school and yet very well produced and clear in its intent. This is a band that wants to crunch and riff like it was 1989, and they do a good job of it. The first two cuts are the more recent ones, and they sound better than the more primitively recorded songs from the first EP, but the aggression and dedication to heaviness still show through. This is short, but worth looking into for death-heads.
