Third album from this Swedish band. Highly melodic Black Metal that borders on Pagan/Folk but doesn't indulge in folk melodies or trad instrumentation—kind of like early Forefather albums. There are some really good melodies buried in the layered guitar work, and a much more mellow, atmospheric vibe than anything aggressive. A lot of the vocals on here are clean, actually, sung in a multi-tracked choral style that adds to the heathen mood. The harsh vocals are pretty standard, and don't do much to add to the music. Overall this has a very relaxed atmosphere and makes for good background, but it's not stuff you get all amped up over; it's not that kind of music. |
