Azatoth are proving to be among the best of the current revival of old-school Finnish Death Metal, certainly among the most productive, and their latest EP Unholy Carnage is just more of that proof. Like last time, these young lads are all about early '90s American/Finnish Death Metal in the vein of Incantation, Abhorrence, and Demigod on their demos, and the only real difference is that they do it a little better than last time. It's hard to say more about bands that just go at the tried-and-true formula of Death Metal because it's not about gimmicks or experimentation, it's about whether or not they're good enough to make you nostalgic for the days when the scene first spewed forth from some cold forgotten lake in Finland. In Azatoth's case, they take me back to those times, and sometimes it's hard to ask for more. The version of this that I have also contains their Ruins of Humanity EP from last year, but since I already reviewed that, I'll just say that you should get this edition if you can, because currently, you cannot have too much Azatoth.
