Hard to believe this is the 14th album from Blut Aus Nord in a career going back to 1995. In any discography that long, there are going to be some variances in quality, and this band has been all over the place, from boring to brilliant. Their last few albums have been a bit meandering and experimental, and while this one is not much of a change in direction, I like it a bit better. The avowedly Lovecraftian themes help, as does the deep, spacey production. This album is full of long, noodly melodic rips that echo and wind around like they are being played in vast underground caverns full of mole people or some shit. This is not really heavy or aggressive, but it creates a mood I think is cool.
