One thing that's annoying when reviewing is that sometimes it feels like every had been done already and that makes it hard to write anything you haven't written hundreds of times before (some like a wall of text loaded with filler; not my style). Obscene play death metal and they certainly fall into that category as there's nothing new here if you've listened to enough death metal albums. But, damn, do they fucking kill or what. Everything is pedal to the metal on this album, without falling into the trap of unintelligible chaos. The growls are kind of screechy and just rip through the speakers, something you normally associate more with razor-sharp guitars—and there's no shortage of that here either. Fast machine-gun riffage accompanied with equally fast pounding drums are sure to mess you up if you try to keep up with the insanity. The sound is crystal clear, making it easier to peel all the layers of this little gem. Death metal for those who want speed and heaviness and crank it up to 11. |
