I really enjoyed Blackslash's last album, Lightning Strikes Again, and I like their latest, No Steel No Future, even more. Where the last album had a strong NWOBHM vibe, No Steel No Future has a more mature sound. The songwriting is tighter, and the hooks abound courtesy of some great choruses and catchy melodies. Songs like the title track, "Queen of the Night" and the infectious "Hammertime" bring elements of Iron Maiden, Riot and Hammerfall together to create mandatory air guitar or roll down the windows in the car and blast it material. There are songs that aren't quite as engaging ("Under a Spell" for example) but it is rare to get all winners on a single album. Blackslash plays solid, no-frills heavy metal '80s style, so grab yourself a copy and crank it up.
