This is pretty cool upbeat old-school heavy metal from Italy. ScreaMachine aren't bringing anything new to the table, but their debut album is a nice little slab of catchy heavy metal that's rooted in the mid to late '80s with lots of singalong vocal lines, melodic yet crunchy and sometimes aggressive guitars and even a bit of an epic vibe at times, really calling for the listener to spontaneously start shouting and throw their fists in the air. While the overall vibe is upbeat and kind of "feel good"-like, sure to get things going crazy in a live setting, the band didn't forget to keep things heavy, so this is not watered down in any way. There isn't much more to say about this as it's been done and is being done to death due to the current revival, but if you can't get enough of the pure, upbeat, fun heavy metal sound of that glorious period, ScreaMachine is a safe bet. |
