Severoth are another one-man Black Metal band who often get lumped in with "ambient" acts, but actually, this is melodic, but far too active and heavy to fall into the ambient morass. This has a big, well-developed sound with a lot of space and sweeping arrangements. This is very keyboard-heavy, but does not stint on the heaviness. All of it gets mixed together into a mass of sound that really makes for an arresting mood. A lot of these kinds of projects are short on musical ideas but long on atmosphere, but Severoth have both. If you enjoy bands like Dwarrowdelf, Eldamar, or Sojourner, then this is another one you will like. |
