This EP seems to have been a low-profile release as I can't recall seeing a press release about it (I might just have missed it) and I came across purely by accident on Spotify. Well, I'll say right away that it's nothing to get too excited about. The title track is a rerecording of the song from Metal Commando and has both Ralf and Tarja (of Nightwish fame) on vocals. It's way too mellow as an opener and I find the version on the album sounds better, so this is a bit of a let-down, but if you need to hear everything Tarja sings on, go for it. "Vote of No Confidence" is a relatively melodic rocking song that's pretty decent but it's nothing you haven't heard from Primal Fear before in terms of style. "Rising Fear" is a short instrumental. "Leave Me Alone" is the one that rocks the most here, much crunchier than the rest and if it weren't for the cringeworthy chorus, I could really like it. ;) "Second to None" opens up with a mid-80s Priest-like guitar riff that's pretty cool and gets me every time. It's cool, not great. Can't help but think I've heard it before but if I did, I just can't place it. Anyway... I Will Be Gone feels like the band wanted to release something to kill time while they can't tour. It has its moments, but it's a little too tame coming from this band and is something that's likely to appeal only to completists.
