Resurrection was the second EP from Sadistic Fucking Intent, and it saw the band going through several big changes. The first of these was the departure of vocalist Enrique Chavez, who stepped aside so he could focus on running Gothic Records, which would go on to release this very EP. That would lead Bay Cortez to taking over vocal duties, and he sounds as good here as he ever has.

The next big change is in the songwriting and musicianship, which has less of the mindless grinding of Impending Doom... and more ferocity and technicality in the vein of Morbid Angel, only they added more doomy sections for added variety and brutality that would help forge their own special sound. The third big change was in the production, which is significantly better than anything they had before, giving more clarity and depth to the proceedings without sacrificing any of that underground charm.

The biggest change this album brought to the band, however, was notoriety. See, this release got a lot of well-deserved ink when it was released, so much so that it led to the band performing at Milwaukee Metalfest IX in July of 1995. That performance would mark when they first officially earned their status as the legendary Death Metal outfit that they are today, making this the band's most important release to date. If you still haven't listened to Sadistic Intent and need something that's representative of what they're all about, I suggest you make a big change in your life and start with Resurrection.
