Of Sleep and Death is the second full-length from this Austrian band. Metal-Archives lists them as black/thrash, but the music is pretty black to my ears. It's melodic and the guitars have a warmer tone than early '90s black metal, but the vocals are still a venomous rasp and there is no shortage of dark and stormy atmospheres, especially cuts like "Heart Harvest" which has an ominous, almost militaristic sound. It is a consistent album, nothing great or genre-defining but nothing awful and all but the rawest of raw, blackest of black fans will likely find something to enjoy on Of Sleep and Death. |
