Debut for this band from Greece, who play a stripe of Epic Metal without sounding like Battleroar, rather they take a lot of their influence from classic Manowar, with a lot of galloping/marching riffs and the high-wailing vocals of frontman Tasos Lazaris. There is also a good amount of keyboard activity on here to add atmosphere, and that calls to mind Virgin Steele more than a bit. This is a band who sound absolutely retro without aping any one band too much, and that makes them sound fresher than they should. There's nothing you have not heard if you are into Epic/Trad Metal, but it's done pretty well. Lazaris has a lot of upper range, but he's also not always strictly on-note, and sometimes his vocals can grate a bit. Overall, this is a fun album from a band to watch. |
