This is very upbeat heavy metal with everything you would expect from catchy, commercial-ish '80s metal: Clean, high-pitched vocals, lots of speed and melody and a bit of silliness. There's nothing remotely original here and, while it's not bad, overall it sounds a bit like a cheap copycat. There are some cool guitar solos, lots of catchy memorable melodies and it's fun, but none of it is great. It's not something you'll want to turn off while it's on, but you won't feel the urge to put it on either. Lightning Strikes Again certainly shows potential, but Blackslash will have to up their game if they want to make their mark a crowded genre. |
