This is a re-release by Slovak Metal Army of this band's 2017 debut album, as their follow-up, Flame of Rebellion, was just released in January. This is a Czech band who have been getting some notice with their aggressive, old-school Death Metal sound. This band definitely reminds me of Bolt Thrower, but they also have a more '90s, Dutch DM edge to them that recalls bands like Asphyx or Sinister. You get a powerful production job with heavy, propulsive riffs and solid, bellowing vocals. The riffage and songwriting are not anything fans have not heard before, but no matter how many times something has been done, it's still worth doing if you do it right. Purnama are not original, but they will keep your fist in the air and your head banging. |
