Killitorous are something of a supergroup composed of members from a number of big underground acts like Suffocation and Annihilator, and on this album they invited a slew of guests from names like Allegeon, Firewind, and Voivod, among others. This might make it sound like this is an ambitious project, but one look at any aspect of this band, from its name to its album titles to song names like "Married with Children" and "Roger Dangerfield of Dreams", will make it clear there is nothing serious going on with this group. Even that would be fine if this were any fun, and I suppose for everyone involved it may have been, but if that's the case, it's fun had at the listener's expense.

The Afterparty could charitably be called a Technical Death Metal album, but only in the sense that there's a lot of instrumental flailing in place of actual song ideas, and that's not even getting into the comedy aspect of their music. I use the term "comedy" loosely, as their idea of a joke is not limited to stupid song titles and lyrics, but also includes shoving in ridiculous sound clips from sitcoms and classic movies in a few songs, the hillbilly hodown sections of "Insanity as a Pathway to Fame & Fortune: The Tyrannical Tirades of Mike Tyson" to the abominable closing track "King Diamond Dallas Page", which despite its 10-minute length is only about three minutes of music with the rest being one minute of an intro sound clip and six freaking minutes of one carnival keyboard melody and a clown laughing tacked on at the end. I know there are people who eat this kind of obnoxious shit up and will talk about how uptight I am for hating it, but I personally prefer music that sounds like it had more effort put into being enjoyable to listen to rather than squandering it on creating what I can only call the musical equivalent of low-effort shitposting. Don't waste your time with this irritating nonsense.
