Trinitas is a Swedish/German black metal bands composed of three members who have played (and/or still playing) in such bands as Sodom, Asphyx, Desaster, Naglfar and Dark Fortress plus a couple more. Suffice it to say that it's a resume that speaks for itself. This self-titled EP doesn't really hold any surprises. It's largely Scandinavian second-wave black metal inspired by the likes of Darkthrone, Gorgoroth and later-era Marduk. Except for a few speedy-ish passages, it's not a speedfest by any means, the band aiming more for a slow to mid-paced style with plenty of heaviness and atmosphere. It's very well done and hits just the right spot in the genre, but it's nothing you haven't heard before. What left to do is wait and see where these guys are going with this next. |
