Tensor is a new entity out of Belgium that is trying to make some headway in the extreme end of the heavy metal pool on their EP, The Suicide Connection. The production is clean and bright, giving the technical and complex riffs plenty of room to breathe and fill space. The vocals, halfway between death growls and thrash shouts, suit the music admirably. There is a modern feel to the songwriting that thankfully avoids drifting into "core" territory. I feel like I'm waffling a little bit with The Suicide Connection because while it is tight, energetic and well played, there isn't anything here that is blowing me out of the water, either. Tensor sounds like they have the chops to potentially create some exciting music so fans of technical metal will want to keep any eye on them.
