Like the other "Big 4 of German Thrash", Destruction regularly churns out new albums with Born to Perish their 16th (14th if you don't count the Thrash Anthem albums of re-recorded songs). I've said this before, and I'll say it again; this is a band that has found a formula that works and isn't about to deviate, so Born to Perish is another album sure to please long-time Destruction fans. Everything you expect from Destruction and German Thrash in general is here from chainsaw riffs and squealing solos, thunderous bottom end and main man Schmier's bestial, semi-harsh shouts. I find the songwriting to be a step back from 2016's Under Attack and roughly on par with 2012's Spiritual Genocide. That means there's nothing wrong with any of the songs but there is nothing here that stands out, either, and they all sort of blend together. Don't hesitate to grab this if you love German Thrash just keep your expectations modest.
