Third Storm were active for a couple of years in the second half of the '80s, releasing a couple of demos, then got back together in 2014 and this is their first full-length album. Fast-paced, no-frills black metal is what the band have to offer on The Grand Manifestation. There's nothing here you haven't heard before as the band seem to have adopted a proven formula of Swedish black metal and just went with it with no apologies. I'm personally more interested in good rather than innovative (so many bands screw up when they try too much), and Third Storm do this well-known black metal sound right, so what's not to like if that's your kind of stuff? There's plenty here to make you headbang and fuck yourself up in the process and they even managed to throw in a few catchy bits here and there. If you can't get enough of fast Swedish black metal, Third Storm will hit the right spot. |
