Erebos (Greek for Darkness) is a six-piece Austrian Death Metal band that's been knocking about since 2002, and their latest album Heretic rips so hard, it could be used as a cheap substitute for a demolition crew. This album takes the heaviness of older Amon Amarth, adds dual harsh vocals courtesy of Christian Lindschinger and Steif, and does away with all that melody and Viking nonsense to give us some merciless Death Metal that works like a locomotive: fast or slow, this shit crushes everything in its path. At a little over 30 minutes, this album is a bit short, but you'd need to visit a doctor from flailing your head so much if it were any longer. Recommended. |
