Tableau Mort are a six-piece Black Metal band from London, England that stands out from the crowd by incorporating Romanian Orthodox Christianity into their sound and lyrical themes. What this means is that you get melodic Black Metal full of chaotic fury and bombast mixed with powerful atmosphere, weeping melodies, and gloomy, meditative lyrics. While the band has only existed since 2017, all its members have ample experience in other bands, and it shows on here with musical influences that range from Death Metal to Doom Metal, all topped off with bestial Black Metal shrieks and even some chanted sections that altogether give the album the air of an ancient ecclesiastical ceremony. Fans of more ambitious projects like Deathspell Omega will find a lot to like here, and anyone interested in more adventurous Black Metal should track this one down. |
