Paragon's twelfth journey to the depths of Teutonic metal hell offers exactly what fans are expecting of a Paragon album: no-frills, classic and evil-ish heavy metal with Martin Christian's signature riffs—this time juiced by a third guitar player in Günter Kruse—, Andreas Babuschkin's imposing growls and plenty of power from the simplistic, yet reliable bass and drum passages.

There's absolutely no room here for invention, so the tracks follow the school of "fuck lyrics and instrumental majesty, this is true heavy metal from Germany." From engaging, brutal efforts like "Abbatoir" and "Musangwe (B.K.F.)" to rocking tracks like "Mean Machine," the same elements of a winning formula applies: these guys aren't here to reinvent the wheel or put out a conceptual album about Nietzsche's philosophic memoirs, they're here to rock the shit out of your speakers, and they do it with force and fierceness. Paragon's long reign of being one of the most respected and to-the-point Teutonic bands is far from over, and Controlled Demolition is yet another statement of this. Highly recommended, as always.
