Rain After Drought is the second full-length from Italy's Tytus, a hard-rocking, no frills metal band. In-your-face guitars, clear, forceful vocals and sweet lead work are the band's stock-in-trade and songs like "Disobey", "The Dark Wave" and "A Desolate Shell of a Man" are sure to have your reaching for the air guitar. The singer has hints of "modern" metal in his delivery, but it isn't anything distracting but it is there. Tytus' aggressive riffing and speed remind me of Vicious Rumors in spots though the accessibility and vocals on "A Desolate Shell of a Man" would have fit right in on Skid Row's Slave to the Grind album. Rain After Drought isn't a revelation but solid songwriting and above average guitar work make for a fun ride while it is on. |
