Whoa ... I didn't see this one coming. Skull Pit is a US/Japan collaboration and it is delightfully old school and raw, basic heavy metal. Motörhead is the band that most often comes to mind here as some of the guitar work could very well have found its way on one of the British legends' albums. Strikingly similar at times, without stealing anything but the style. Add to this a healthy vibe of 70s rock/heavy rock turned to 11, the NWOBHM garage style of execution—though a little more polished—and songs that are mostly catchy as hell (I dare you not to have "Fire Breather" stuck in your head after one listen). If you're looking for fun, catchy, speedy, rocking heavy metal that'll make you take out the air instruments and headbang like a maniac, then Skull Pit is definitely up there. |
