Album number 2 for this Italian band who play a very gothy stripe of Symphonic Power Metal. This does not sound extremely Italian, so it does not really remind me much of bands like Rhapsody. The production on this is strong, and the songwriting does not rely on double-bass runs to provide impetus, so it has a more epic feel. Singer Nicoletta Rosellini has a nice enough midrange voice, but she sounds unsure a lot of the time, so the vocal performance is a bit iffy. The vocal lines tend to be more pop-oriented than operatic or metallic, and a certain sameyness sets in by track 3, as a lot of the songs are quite similar to one another. Overall this is passable, but it could be a lot better. |
