Finland is a pretty safe bet when it comes to black metal and Kryptamok is no exception. The basic ingredient here is 90s Scandinavian black metal and, as such, you get the speedy passages that will break your neck, but where the band shines is in the atmosphere conveyed throughout Profaani, but especially on the slower material. The expected evil vibe of black metal meets a very haunting aura that would be fitting the soundtrack of one of those dark horror movies that take place in dense woods where you can see past your nose. It's too bad that it's short at just under 20 minutes, but sometimes less is more. This is a demo that's seeing professional release, and let's hope there's more of this badassery in the oven. |
