Hard to believe it's been 7 years since Theomachia, and fucking 12 since Decrowning The Irenarch. Maybe they had label issues, as they are back on Invictus again for this release, with a new drummer and a new lead player. If you are expecting a big change from the sounds of their last disc, you will be disappointed. If you just want more slashing Death Metal with a kick of Thrash and blackened attitude, then you will absolutely not be disappointed. Spearhead are not doing anything here they have not done before, but they are doing it with their expected levels of energy and quality. This is very much in the vein of Morbid Angel or Angelcorpse, though as always there is something of Bolt Thrower in their riff style. This band is not breaking any molds, but if you want a solid album that rips your face off and stomps on it, then this is the shit. |
