Well, this is pretty cool. These Americans from South Dakota worship at the altar of early Swedish death metal and they do it pretty well. It's not particularly original but it's not just rehashing either. Raw, buzzsaw riffage, harsh growls, a tiny dose of melody to keep things alive and some songs with overpowering intros make The Splendid Iniquity just a fun, interesting death metal album. No need to say much more. If you are disappointed by the more recent output of the old Swedish greats, then Angerot may be able to fill those shoes. |
