Another one of those one-man bands that is insanely productive. Elegiac have cranked out three EPs, 11 splits, and five full-length albums in the past three years. Deeply influenced by classic Bathory, this is an album packed with pummeling riffs and a lot of hooks. Some of the songs speed up, but a lot of this is at a steady marching pace. A lot of this is pretty awesome, but it does go on a bit too long, and by the end of the hour-long album you are a bit worn down by it. This guy has an ear for riffs, and the production is spot-on, but I think he needs to tighten things up a bit if he wants to hit the highs he is clearly capable of. Strong. |
