MetalMike was quite accurate mentioning Agent Steel in his review of A Call to Arms, as the vocals and the very speedy playing style is definitely reminiscent of that band. Note that it's a woman handling the vocal duties, but she certainly does sound like Cyriis. 80s speed metal with a raw thrash vibe is what's on offer here and Chevalier certainly know how to make us feel like we travelled back in time and discovered the genre all over again. The guitars and drums sound powerful as hell and Emma's vocals just seem to be riding in their wake, to great effect. The EP ends with a cover of Brocas Helm's "Fly High", which certainly sets it apart from the other three songs. An interesting take on the track. No full-length album from them yet, but surely that's just around the corner... With Agent Steel apparently being on hold, Chevalier are filling the void. |
