I had this recommended to me as sounding like Summoning and, considering how disappointed I was with the last Summoning disc, I was ready to give it a go. I would have to call the comparison pretty damned spot-on, as Arx Atrata really lean hard on the big, expansive arrangements and atmospheric keys. They are more about riffs than Summoning have been for a long time, and the guitar work has a definite Moonsorrow vibe to it. If you love albums like Minas Morgul or Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame, with some sounds mixed in from Moonsorrow or Caladan Brood, then this is definitely an album to hunt down. |
