Whoa. Excuse me for a second while I pick myself off the floor. Chile's Atomicide present a short 7" that packs a hell of a black/death metal punch, leaving you on your knees begging for mercy. This reminds me a little bit of some Australian (and Canadian) so-called war metal, but thrashier and a bit less chaotic. Deep, raspy guttural vocals glue this musical onslaught together and are surprisingly noticeable here given how heavy, fast and visceral the music is – you just wouldn't expect the vocals to survive in that mix, but they do and to great effect. I love how Atomicide somehow made this pretty catchy and headbangable with a thrashy vibe, while not compromising one bit and beating the crap out of their instruments. Rarely have 11 minutes of music made me their bitch like this. I just realized that I have their 2015 album, Chaos Abomination, here so if you don't hear back from me, I probably didn't survive that one. Either way, this is great stuff. Oh, here comes the ambulance. See ya! |
