Twisting the Blade is the second album from Ireland's Stereo Nasty and it's a solid step forward from 2015's Nasty by Nature. As I said in my review of that record, the band had the 80s W.A.S.P. sound down but the songwriting wasn't quite as catchy, and that has been addressed nicely on this new effort. While you are air-guitaring to "Kill or Be Killed" and "Twisting the Blade" you'll no doubt be chanting the chorus each time it comes around. They show they can write a longer song ("Through the Void") that never gets boring as well. Stereo Nasty has a firm grip on early gritty and melodic US metal and Twisting the Blade deserves a spot in your collection next to The Final Command, Power of the Night and License to Kill. |
