According to Metal-Archives, U.S. death metallers Malformity were active from 1991 to 1995, releasing two demos in that last year, and then got back together in 2014, releasing an EP in 2015 and now this short single in 2018. Can't say they've been prolific, but I like what I'm hearing and I hope they have an album baking in the oven. Unsurprisingly, this is U.S. death metal through and through – the "New York Death Metal" sound to be precise. I can't help but think of some of Immolation's punishing material here. Both songs are heavy, with convincing, hard-hitting drums and some razor-sharp guitars that just want to shred the speakers to pieces. The vocals are fitting, perfect growls. Needless to say, this is over too quickly and, for now, that leaves only the repeat button to satisfy one's thirst for some fine death metal from these guys until they come up with more, hopefully just as good material. |
