A Greek guy hiding behind the alias Kerveros has been running his one-man Black Metal band called Athos since 2004, releasing several splits and four albums over a period of 14 years. Kerveros's latest album is called Noht Lerapot (co-released by Russian S.o.D.P. and Lupus Niger Prod. and Distro from Italy) and contains nearly 40 minutes of raw, cold and somewhat atmospheric Black Metal which is often surprisingly melodic in many places. But then comes some buts and ifs... I mean, I am sure Kerveros knows very well the essence of what Black Metal is all about, BUT to make it somehow stand out among the rest of the other blacker-than-thou troops is a whole different story right there. IF he would just hire some additional musicians to make Athos a full band, he would probably get a few useful ideas from them to make the band sound better. Not bad, but nothing too memorable here either. |
