This is a new project featuring current and former members of Black Metal Occultists Nightbringer, who also put out a new album this year. Of the two, I actually find I like this one a bit better. Unsurprisingly, this is a very similar kind of work, featuring long songs dense with twisting, melodic riffs and deeply occult lyrics and atmosphere. The sound here is really visceral and propulsive, with a deep-voiced production job and thunderous drums that pound like a call to war. This is heavy, murky, and malevolent stuff that really captures a vibe Nightbringer themselves have not really managed since their debut. So if you want crushing, merciless Black Metal with evil and atmosphere, then this is an album to dig in on. |
