Review

Another magazine worth worshipping, SnakePit once again covers heavy metal from the 80s (or "traditional metal" for those who are too thick-headed to differentiate heavy metal from power metal) and also, of course, more "modern" heavy metal acts. Just like the previous issues, #11 is packed very extremely in-depth interviews - chances are you won't find interviews with so much details in any other magazine anywhere - I know I haven't. This is complemented by a sizeable review section. The issue opens up with a tribute to Paul Baloff (RIP), where co-editor Laurent Ramadier seems to have forgotten the concept of paragraphs. There is also a tribute to another fallen metal legend, Paul Samson.

As usual, the lineup of interviewed bands is amazing: Agent Steel, Anihilated, Candlemass, Doomsword, Eternal Reign, Gammacide, Genocide, Intruder, K-Octave, Laaz Rockit, Lost Horizon, Mercenary, Mortal Sin, Nasty Savage, Nocturnus, Paragon, Pentagram, Possessed, Repulsion, Sabatan, Salem's Wych, Twisted Tower Dire, Vio-Lence, Whiplash, Wild Dogs and Wytchfynde. Not enough for you? There's an in-depth interview with two guys who used to work for the legendary label Combat Records - very interesting.

Only deception in this 100+ pages issue is some crap printed for the benefit of a disgruntled label owner, without having the band's response printed alongside his crap… Hopefully that'll be the end of this dirt campaign. The band targetted being friends of mine, and I knowing the other side of the story, I feel I have the right to throw a fit about this on my own site. There, I'm done. But that's only half a page, so who the fuck cares, the 101 and a half remaining pages are filled with killer material for the metalhead thirsty for in-depth information. This issue, and all other issues of SnakePit, is an ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE for any self-respecting metalhead, simple as that. Hurry up because there were only some 1100+ copies printed. Also inquire about any past issues they might have left and buy them, it's money well-spent.
