Well this is more like it. I was deeply disappointed with the syrupy mess that was Edenbridge's last album The Grand Design, and I was hopeful that one of my favored bands was not winding down or losing their grip. Thankfully, album number six is Edenbridge back in fine form.

This is Edenbridge doing what they do best, and doing it waaaaaay better than they did last time out. Where The Grand Design was turgid and overwrought, MyEarthDream is sharp, heavy, and catchy. After the expected intro track we get to the meat with the hooky "Shadowplay". Other fine highlights include "Paramount", the singable "Adamantine", and "Place Of Higher Power". The title track is a twelve-minute epic and even if it's a bit overdone, the melodies are memorable and the song never loses interest. The performances are spot-on, and Sabine especially sounds sharper and more emotional than she ever really has. The album varies between heavier songs like "Shadowplay" and more balled-esque tunes like "Whale Rider" and "Remember Me". This is Edenbridge after all, so the melodies are sweet and upbeat. This does not quite reach the highs of Shine, but it is another fine album for fans to enjoy. This is more of what we love Edenbridge for, and those who were let down by The Grand Design can breathe easier, as this band makes up for their lost ground with ease.
