Tyrants is the title of these German 'deathrashers' fourth album and it's also the last part of the band's end-time trilogy (which was started on their second album, Marauders, back in 2009). Musically they sound like a tamed and more melodic version from longtime German thrashers Exumer, with Mat's vocal parts at times deceptively making me think of Mem von Stein due to a very similar, rough vocal tone that they both share. Lost World Order know how to thrash, there's no question about that. However, some parts tend to sound a bit too sloppy to make a song (or songs) really stand out. But, whenever they manage to make a match between some raging Thrash riffs and the kind of rhythm sections that are able to carry their songs straight to the end, they do save themselves and just avoid becoming overly tedious and uninspired sounding, more or less. Lost World Order weren't able to conjure up any ace stuff on Tyrants that could make them clean the table, but then again, fortunately they have some fist-raising, nice thrashing anthems such as "Combat Zone," "Tyrant," and "End All Life" to prevent their ship from sinking completely right to the bottom of this murky and ruthless sea of total oblivion. |
