Sfyrokalymnon is a Greek band that lists quite an array of bands from Black Sabbath to Iron Maiden to D.R.I. to Celtic Frost as influences, but on The Sign of Concrete Creation all I hear is a choppy Hardcore/Thrash base of riffs and growly, barking, Tom G. Warrior-esque vocals. Every song sounds like the one before with the same mid-paced tempo, the same chugging guitar and the same vocal lines where the singer ends each phrase by leaning into the last word harder than he did on the first. This isn't horrible, just utterly faceless and generic. |
