Children Of Bodom was described to me as "death metal meets Stratovarius" and I have to agree.  I'm not exactly a fan of death metal-type vocals but with Hatebreeder, I couldn't care less.  After listening to the album a few times I got used to the vocals.  On the other hand, I just had to listen once to the first song to realize how incredibly talented those musicians are.

Do not expect any ballads here: this is 38 minutes of speedy, well-executed music.  I'm not expert on death metal so I can't say if Children Of Bodom have a unique style, but I find their blend of death and power metal interesting and refreshing.  I do not have a favorite song on this album, I like them all.  The only negative thought I might have on it are the vocals, but I knew what I was buying so....

The artwork is absolutely perfect, inside and outside.  The only problem I found is that there are lyrics only for six out of nine songs.  Having all the lyrics would definitely have helped me understand a little more :).

If you're not into death metal, I'd say: get over it and get this album, for it is not death metal "as we know it" and you'll be impressed by the musicians' work.  I'm also impressed that the singer still has a voice :).
