Abhoth is a Montenegrin band that's kicked around for 10 years or so and their self-titled debut EP, released back in 2014, was recently sent over by the band. The style is Symphonic Death Metal featuring very melodic Thrash riffing backed by majestic keyboards that, combined, create a sense of space and openness. The guitars still get down and dirty and the low, growly vocals avoid sounding like someone with a really bad stomachache. The three songs are fairly entertaining even though they don't break any new ground. If you're looking for Death Metal that's ultra raw or super technical, you aren't going to find it here. If you like your music on the Epic side like say Summoning or Atlantean Kodex, but with more speed and Death vocals, then you should give Abhoth a listen. |
