Shotgun Rodeo is a Norwegian Thrash band with a thick streak of groove running right down the middle of their latest EP The New Standard. The riffs are actually pretty good and the down tuning of the guitars not egregious. The solos are energetic and if it weren't for the rest of the songwriting, The New Standard might be something you'd hear from a band like Hatriot. The vocals have the sneer of early Suicidal Tendencies or maybe The Offspring and while they suit the angst-ridden lyrics, I can't say I enjoy either very much. If you live and breathe Thrash you might find something here but for most there are a lot of better examples of the style available. Passable. |
