Well, this is pretty cool. Skeleton Wolf play a pretty catchy brand of blackened Thrash that won't revolutionize anything, but nevertheless gets the head banging, the foot tapping or the fist pumping in the air – or a combination of all three. Some of the songs here, such as "All the Sixth Foot" literally stick in your head from the first listen – fast, catchy, simple. Nothing fancy here. Skeleton Wolf keep things simple and straightforward. The closer "Forever Awake" is hit-or-miss: it's another catchy one that sticks in your head, but it also has a bit of a more... "commercial" vibe (well, it still doesn't qualify as "commercial", but you get my drift). The chorus is a bit weird with raspy vocals that wander into melodic territory. I both like and dislike this song. Overall this is a pretty good album that I've been listening to over and over for a while now. If you're looking for some Black/Thrash with a bit of a melodic vibe, this is certainly worth checking out. |
