Snakeyes is a Spanish Power/Thrash group and if bands like Helstar and Jag Panzer get your fist in the air, the band's debut Ultimate Sin is one you need to check out immediately. The guitar work on Ultimate Sin rules from the fat, meaty riffs to the sharp yet melodic solos. The vocals are a satisfying shout/scream that is perfect for this style of music and the bass/drum combo lays down a thunderous foundation. The performances are technical but don't sacrifice emotion and Snakeyes just lays down track after track of pummeling Heavy Metal. There's a weakness, and it's kind of a big one, and that is the songwriting. It isn't bad, just rather generic and while there aren't any real weak tracks on Ultimate Sin there aren't any real killer ones either. Regardless, the music will have you banging your head and Snakeyes is absolutely a band to watch in the future. They are only a couple of strong songs away from awesome. |
