Finnish Death Metal trio Crippler has been making a name for themselves with two very promising demos release in a short period of time. Crippler was formed in 2011 and released their second demo in June 2014 and have added to the normal Death Metal "meat & potatoes" a fair amount of extra hot chili, ketchup, fried onions, jalopenos and other yummy tastes.
Musically, Crippler operate in the same Death Metal territory as, let's say, Immolation, Nile, Suffocation, Deeds of Flesh and other extreme and brutal US-tinged Death Metal acts. The combination of technicality and brutally dark and furious Death Metal is convincingly done. Vocalist/bassist Janne Keskitalo must be the Finnish cousin of Immolation's Ross Dolan. Janne's deep growls do remind me greatly of the guttural death grunts for which Ross Dolan has become known. All three songs on this demo kick ass on all levels and I would not be surprised if Crippler was offered a record deal by some sharp-eared label in the near future.
If the future of Death Metal was in the hands of these guys, there would be an ear-to-ear grin on my face for sure. Crippler is something all you fans of technical, brutal and well-executed Death Metal should remember.
