Karmakanic is a side project band from Jonas Reingold of The Flower Kings as well as other numerous musicians from said band as well as Midnight Sun, Last Tribe, Yngwie Malmsteen, Glory etc etc. With this amount of talent this album really can't be anything but good and for the most part it actually does give you exactly what you would expect. Progressive Metal with far better than average musical abilities but for some odd reason I simply can't get into this album.

The album is a concept involving a story that takes place 3000 years in the future. The story is about a man that leads a very ordinary life and how he views his existence. The story is just like the songwriting on this album and that is simply that is hard to follow or grasp on to. I don’t know maybe I am just not intelligent enough to understand it all but it all boils down to the fact that this is not an album that is going to get more than a few spins either way before it sits on the shelf collecting dust. I did however give it a decent rating since I can certainly appreciate excellent musicianship when I hear it and this album does have that in surplus.

This is progressive metal with touches of various other music styles here and there may be some people find this enjoyable but as for me I would just have to say….Move along…Nothing to see here.
